Eczema is not a deadly disease although it could be a prolonged disease. With atopic dermatitis it usually goes away during adulthood even though it can be very extreme during childhood. Eczema can have long term psychological effects on children due to what they have to endure while growing up such as bullying (Mckoy, 2014).

The most common treatments of the eczema are moisturizers, corticosteroids which reduce inflammation, ultraviolent therapy include being under a UV light for a short period of time for about 3-5 times a week, and immune modulators which are taken orally and help regulated the immune system (Mckoy, 2014).
